The
Virtual Lot
Manager was born out of the need
for small independent dealerships to create a presence
on the world wide web. The Virtual Lot Manager is a
series of Perl programming scripts that will allow for an easy
way to maintain and display your inventory on the Internet.
What started out as a web design contract for a new car
dealer, I created a simple database to allow customers to
search the dealerships inventory by make, model, type of
vehicle or price range or any combination of specifications
and get a listing of the results. This simple database has
turned into a turn-key piece of software that allows any
dealer to have a very powerful search engine for their very
own website. This program was developed in 1996 and has only
been cosmetically changed over time. The underlying logic is
very slim, and the execution of the program is fast and
without errors. You could get more in other packages, but then
again you pay a lot more to get 95% of what the Virtual Lot
Manager offers as standard features.
